The mission of the CTIC is to promote the adoption of economically-viable and environmentally-sound agricultural and natural resource management practices.
Environmental Protection Agency
National Seed Storage Laboratory
The NSSL is a core facility for the U.S. National Plant Germplasm System. The NSSL is located on the Colorado State University Campus in Fort Collins, Colorado. The primary mission of the Laboratory is to provide long-term preservation of plant genetic resources of important plant species for current and future generations.
National Weather Service
  • National Weather Service Interactive Weather Information Network (IWIN), the National Weather Service's Internet data source.
  • Netcast from NOAA. A searchable directory of local weather forecasts for the United States, based on information provided by the National Weather Service. Searching for small cities and towns will direct you to county or regional forecasts.
  • Agricultural Genome Information Server (AGIS) is a service provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Library' Genome Informatics Group (GIG) in Beltsville, Maryland, USA. Funding is provided through the USDA, National Genetic Resources Program. This server consists of genome information for agriculturally important organisms.

    • Maize Genome Database, operated by the USDA-ARS Maize Genome Database Project is part of the Plant Genome Database network of the Agricultural Genome Information Server, sponsored by the USDA and the National Agricultural Library in Beltsville. The Maize Genome Database or MaizeDB is curated as a relational Sybase database, by the USDA Plant Genetics Unit located within the College of Agriculture of the University of Missouri-Columbia, and provides user-friendly, Internet access to the maize genome as the basis for the biology of maize.

    • The Plant Genome Data and Information Center (PGDIC) provides access to a variety of information products and services on all aspects of plant and animal genome mapping.

    • Beltsville Agricultural Research Center; Agricultural Research Service; Research, Education & Economics; U.S. Department of Agriculture.

    • The Cereal Rust Laboratory on the St. Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota is a national center for research on rust diseases of wheat, oat, and barley within the Agricultural Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

    • The National Agricultural Library, part of the USDA Agricultural Research Service , is one of four national libraries in the US. The NAL is a major international resource for agriculture and related information. This Web site provides access to NAL's many resources and a gateway to its associated institutions. NAL has 10 subject specific information centers that provide customized services to the agricultural community and others. Through the Internet, the centers provide access to digital information including images, databases, software, patents, bibliographies, and resource guides. They also provide subject matter expertise and perform extensive outreach and collaborative activities.

    • National Soil Erosion Research Laboratory, located at Purdue University, W. Lafayette, IN 47907. The NSERL is the focal point for the U.S. Government's national research program in soil erosion.

    • National Soil Tilth Laboratory, Ames, Iowa. The mission of the National Soil Tilth Laboratory is to generate and integrate knowledge for the development and evaluation of management practices that enhance surface and ground water quality while ensuring the long term enhancement and conservation of the nation's soil and water resources.

    • Wind Erosion Laboratory was established in the Farm Machinery Hall on the campus of Kansas State University in late 1947. The laboratory serves as a focal point for wind erosion research in the United States and is also a frequent stop for foreign scientists interested in various aspects of wind erosion.

    • Conservation & Production Research Laboratory (CPRL) is located in the Southern Plains Area. The CPRL is operated in cooperation with the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station (Agricultural Research and Extension Center at Amarillo ), which is part of the Texas A&M University System and its College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at College Station, TX.

      • Cropping Systems Research Laboratory (CSRL), comprised of the Plant Stress and Germplasm Development Research Unit, Wind Erosion and Water Conservation Research Unit, and Cotton Production and Processing Research Unit.

    • The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) seeks improved market access for U.S. products and implements programs designed to build new markets and to maintain the competitive position of U.S. products in the global marketplace.

    • The mission of the Systematic Botany and Mycology Laboratory is to increase the knowledge and application the systematics of fungi and vascular plants essential to solving problems in sustainable and conventional agriculture.

    • Germplasm Resources Information Network (GRIN) provides germplasm information about plants, animals, microbes and invertebrates within the National Genetic Resources Program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS).

  • North Central Region Plant Introduction Station, USDA/ARS & Iowa State University.
