AgNIC AgNIC is a guide to quality agricultural information on the Internet as selected by the National Agricultural Library, Land-Grant Universities, and other institutions.

AGRIS

Database from the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations. Includes international agricultural research information. Extremely useful source of data on African and Asian countries.

Bioethicsline Plus

Comprehensive database on ethics.

   

BIOSIS 1993 - Present

Comprehensive database in the life sciences, includes both Biological Abstracts and Biological Abstracts/RRM.

BIOSIS 1980 - 1992

Same as BIOSIS 1993 - Present except coverage is from 1980 to 1992.

CAB Abstracts

Indexes over 7,000 international agricultural journals and includes comprehensive abstracts.

   

Cambridge Scientific Abstracts

Includes a section of 27 databases in the Biological Sciences ranging from fisheries to biotechnology.

Center for Research Libraries (CRL)

CRL is an international not-for-profit consortium of colleges, universities and libraries that makes available scholarly research resources to users everywhere. CRL is governed by the major research libraries of North America and is funded by fees, grants and contributions. Open to scholars and researchers, its collections include more than five million volumes of research materials rarely held in North American libraries. Scholars can search the catalog or one of their specialized databases.

   

Community of Science

Includes GeoRef, U.S. Patent Citations, Federal Register, as well as funded research.

CRIS (USDA Current Contents Search)

U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) documentation and reporting system for ongoing and recently completed research projects in agriculture, food and nutrition, and forestry.

Electronic version of Current Contents, providing access to tables of contents and bibliographic data from over 7,000 of the world's leading scientific and scholarly journals and approximately 2,000 books. In seven editions: Agriculture, Biology and Environmental Sciences; Arts and Humanities; Clinical Medicine; Engineering, Computing and Technology; Life Sciences; Physical, Chemical and Earth Sciences; & Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Ebsco Host Web

Choose among several databases, such as Ebsco Animals, Academic Elite, Books in Print, Health Source and more. Subject lists (as well as complete title lists) are available at: http://www.epnet.com/maglists/maglist.htm.

Extension Publications

Searches University of Kentucky Extension Publications available full text.

FAO Documents Database

Contains bibliographic records (about 140,000) of all FAO documents and publications from the beginning of the FAO to the present.

FirstGov

Consolidates 20,000 government web sites into one. It provides the capability of searching for specific subjects as well as going to federal and state agencies.

FirstSearch (Part 1)

Includes 15 databases such as Biological and Agricultural Index, Applied Science and Technology Abstracts, WorldCat, NetFirst, WorldAlmanac, and WorldBook.

FirstSearch (Part 2)

Includes 35 databases such as BioDigest; Business Organizations, Agencies & Publications Directory; FactSearch; GEOBASE; and Consumer Index.

FROSTI

Covers all aspects of food science and technology information. Sources include journals, books, patents, reports, and conference proceedings.

GPO Access US Government Printing Office official web site. Includes a variety of documents from the legislative, executive, and judical branches, plus additional US government-related content.

InfoTrac

Provides access to Expanded Academic ASAP, Business and Company ASAP among other significant resources. Includes fulltext current events and hot topics articles.

ingenta

The general public access point to the ingenta web site. Lists articles from thousands of journals ("uncover plus" covers 20,000 journals back to 1988; "online article" covers 4,500 back to 1997). Patron is responsible for purchase of full text articles downloaded using this link.

J-STOR

Database of Electronic journals that cover a range of topics including most science areas.

Journal Citation Reports (JCR)

Provides evaluation information on 8400 journals in the areas of science and social science. Includes such information as highest impact and most frequently used journals.

KYVL (Kentucky Virtual Library)

Provides 50 databases, sources, and library catalogs.

Medline

Includes all areas of medicine back to 1966.

MethodsFinder

References to methods and full text protocols in the life sciences.

   
SciFinder Scholar This is a web-based program which gives complete access to the CA database from 1907-present. Searchable by Author, Company, Research Topic, and Document Identifier.

Sports Discus

A WebSPIRS database with some animal science information

Tree-CD

Covers the forestry literature from 1939-1972. This coupled with CAB Abstracts provides a comprehensive guide to the forestry literature.

Tropag and Rural

Tropag: Covers the literature on the cultivation of food crops and industrial crops, animal husbandry, farming systems, and much more.
Rural: provides abstracts from the recent literature on the economic and social development of developing countries. Both contain full bibliographic citations and abstracts.

   
ToxLine TOXLINE (R) is part of the National Library of Medicine's extensive collection of online bibliographic information, which covers the pharmacological, biochemical, physiological, and toxicological effects of drugs and other chemicals.
   
ToxNet The Toxicology Data Network is actually a cluster of databases on toxicology, hazardous chemicals, and related areas.

UK ingenta

The University of Kentucky ingenta Gateway is UK's portal to ingenta, which lists articles from thousands of journals ("uncover plus" covers 20,000 journals back to 1988; "online articles" covers 4,500 back to 1997). Special Gateway Services are available to professors, graduate students, and employees--contact the AIC for details. Wildlife Worldwide

Incorporates Wildlife Review Abstracts, Swiss Wildlife Information Service, Wildlife Database, BIODOC, and Waterfowl and Wetlands Database into one electronic file.The database covers such topics as endangered species, behavior, ecosystems, physiology, and much more. Coverage is from 1935 to present.
