Services

Please note: Some of the documents on this page are in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) as indicated by the symbol Adobe Acrobat Symbol. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required in order to view and print them.

Circulation of Library Materials: Book check out must currently be done at Young Library primarily, since most of our circulating collection is located there. Books can be returned or renewed at the AIC, or alternatively, online through our Virtual Circulation Desk page. Bound journals need to be returned or renewed at the owning library.

A complete list of copy service services available in University Libraries can be found here.

Document Access and Delivery:

Interlibrary Loan: This service provides a mechanism for getting books and journal articles not available on the UK campus. First time Interlibrary Loan users are required to fill out an information profile which allows personal information and delivery preferences to be stored in the system. Books and journal articles can then be ordered by filling in the information for the requested item on the Iliad form. The system also allows tracking of your requests.

Document Delivery: On campus materials are available through the Document Delivery Service. Book chapters, journal articles and newspaper articles and articles can be requested by faculty and staff for delivery to the AIC. There is a charge of 15 cents per page for print and PDF copies. Forms for document delivery are available on the website.

UK ingenta: This document delivery service allows UK personnel and graduate students to order articles from journals to which the University of Kentucky does not subscribe. By setting up a profile, you can order journal articles costing up to $27.50 and UK Libraries pays the bill. You must use the UK ingenta gateway to access this service. Please contact us if you need assistance.

Electronic Literature Searching: Our most popular databases are listed individually in the Quick Links box or under the Database Guide icon. A comprehensive list of all databases subscribed to by UK Libraries may be found at http://www.uky.edu/Libraries/prodalphall.htm.

In-Service Programs for Cooperative Extension: This is a series of workshops offered through the College of Agriculture’s In-Service Training Program.
