Teacher/Youth Group Field Trips
The Arboretum is the perfect place to reinforce lessons learned in the classroom, or to explore new ones. Teachers can utilize this “living laboratory” in a variety of ways:
- To study the interrelationships between plants and animals
- To explore Kentucky’s native plants and seven physiographic regions on the Walk Across KY
- To learn about plant culture and life cycles
- To demonstrate practical math applications by measuring tree dimensions and landscape features
- As inspiration for art and writing classes
Self-guided and Docent-led tours may be scheduled anytime of the year, free of charge. Call the Education Coordinator at 859/257-9339 to schedule your visit.
For a more in-depth experience, schedule a Guided Garden Discovery for your next field trip. Guided Garden Discoveries:
- Usually last 60 – 90 minutes
- Incorporate active, hands-on investigations and simulations of ecological principles
- Correlate to KY Core Content
- Are led by the Education Coordinator and trained Docents
- Are tailored to meet your group’s needs
- Cost $1 per student (teachers and adult chaperones free)
While spring and fall are our busiest times of the year, every season offers its own special discoveries. To schedule your field trip,
