Research Interests

My research interests are concentrated in tri-trophic chemical ecology. Currently, I am studying poison hemlock (Conium maculatum L.: Apiales, Apiaceae), an invasive plant that produces potentially toxic alkaloid compounds. Poison hemlock invasion may present many biological, environmental, and agricultural consequences. It is my goal to gain a better understanding of the plant’s ecology through the detailed examination of the movement of alkaloids through the food web. Chemical and molecular analyses paired with lab trials will allow me to characterize the biological and chemical processes that take place within poison hemlock invaded areas.
