Research:
My research pertains to hemlock woolly adelgid-induced changes in forest species composition and its effect on invertebrate communities in forested headwater streams. Specifically, I am evaluating differences in communities of aquatic invertebrates colonizing eastern hemlock litter and the litter of several other tree species in southern Appalachian streams. Interpreting the impact of eastern hemlock loss on nearby stream communities will be an important part of understanding how hemlock woolly adelgid is changing the face of forests and streams in this region.
