The Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center, Department of Veterinary Science, University of Kentucky invites applications and nominations for the Jes E. and Clementine M. Schlaikjer Chair in Equine Infectious Diseases at the Associate or Full Professor level.

The advancement of knowledge and understanding of equine infectious diseases as related to pathogenesis, immunology, diagnosis, and/or disease prevention and control will be the overall focus of the research program of this endowed chair position.  Candidates for the position should be internationally-recognized for their work in the area of infection and immunity. A PhD and/or medical degree (DVM, VMD or MD) with advanced academic training and research experience in an area that is relevant to infectious diseases of horses is required.  As a member of the Graduate Faculty, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the training of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.  

The Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center is located on the University of Kentucky Lexington Campus in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky.  The mission of the Gluck Equine Research Center is scientific discovery, education, and dissemination of knowledge that benefits the health and welfare of horses.  

An internationally recognized group of faculty with expertise in equine infectious disease, parasitology, immunology, reproductive physiology, musculoskeletal development, genetics, pathology, toxicology and pharmacology has partnered with horse owners, breeders, and veterinary practitioners to provide a unique environment for equine research.  Other units in the University of Kentucky’s Department of Veterinary Science include the Animal Genetic Testing & Research Laboratory and the Livestock Disease Diagnostic Center, which offer additional research opportunities.
