MAT club had their first meeting of the 2009-2010 school year on September 16th 2009. Our guest speaker, Kaitlin Grosser, assistant buyer from White House Black Market spoke at meeting. Kaitlin is a MAT graduate. Her advice- enjoy what you do and if at all possible work while you're in college to gain extra experience for after graduation! She stressed on value of learning retail math well and keeping your text as a reference for future if you plan to be a buyer!
We also discussed our plans for the Cotton Inc. denim drive. This drive is used to collect old denim pieces (such as jeans or shirts) and recycle them into more environmentally friendly home insulation. This insulation would be used to build houses for Habitat for Humanity and other communities in need. Our drive has already begun and will end November 30th, 2009. If you're interested in donating bring your old denim to a collection box in Erikson hall! Cotton inc would be donating money to MAT club to support our annual trip to the Atlanta Buyer Mart! The more denim we collect the more money MAT club gets ! So be sure to support your club to collect more Denim articles.
