Jennifer Hunter is a State Extension Specialist for Family Financial Management and Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Sciences, where she teaches a course in family resource management. Jennifer joined the Department of Family Sciences in July 2010; however, she began her career in extension as an Extension Associate working with farm financial records in 2001. Additionally, during her tenure with the University of Kentucky, she has served as an Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development in Madison County, and has administered a variety of state level extension programs as a Senior Extension Associate in the Department of Agricultural Economics. Jennifer's professional and research interest primarily focus on household financial management. Current research examines the household based effects of recent recessionary economic events, including changes in household financial management decisions, household well-being, and credit card behaviors. Jennifer is actively involved in the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Management in Tough Times Initiative, focused on economic recovery. Furthermore, her extension program focuses on basic financial skills including budgeting and saving, as well as estate planning.
