Summer 2010
My internship at Nordstrom has been nothing but fantastic. I had the opportunity to take on management duties and responsibilities not typically given to interns. I had the responsibility to merchandise daily, track inventory management and was expected to meet sales goals. I also took on some of the managerial paperwork, which gave me even more of a learning experience. Interns went through a ten week managerial class to build leadership skills that will one day enable us to be future Nordstrom leaders. With just my 12 week internship, I have already been offered a full time position upon my graduation. I would recommend the Nordstrom Internship Program to any interested applicant! Being an intern at the Guess Corporate Headquarters was an amazing experience. Not only was I able to work at a globally successful corporation in beautiful Los Angeles, but I was given the opportunity to learn from people working in three different brands and tons of different departments that make production and success possible. Getting to see the CEOs Paul and Maurice Marciano everyday was truly motivating and inspirational. My advice would be to take risks and don't be scared to try new things; if you mess up, take the constructive criticism and learn from it, because the retail industry is moving too fast for you to fall behind - Hillary Hutt, Los Angeles, CA.
It was an awesome experience where I learned that it takes a team of hardworking and dedicated people to make a business successful. Working with Crate and Barrel this summer has been nothing less than incredible. From day one, everyone made me feel welcome, and was more than willing to help me if I had questions. By being exposed to a new venue of product, it has broadened my horizons. From sales, to working with the designers, I have learned so much about the company. I fell in love with the atmosphere and product of Crate and Barrel. Not to mention, I work with the most wonderful people in the world.
