Dr. Flashman also received the USDA 2000 Impact Award in 1990 for the Fayette Financial Counseling Service, in recognition of an exemplary program in the area of economic well-being. He was co-director of the SOS Learning Network Program. This program won three first place awards and was highlighted in a special networking issue of The Futurist.
Dr. Flashman is an Editorial Board member for The Forum for Family and Consumer Issues, for which he received the Distinguished Service Award in 1999. He also consults with the Kentucky Office of Insurance and the Kentucky Attorney General's Office and has worked with the Kentucky Legislature on legislation affecting consumers.
His current program development thrust is an interactive investment Web site for teenagers, titled Future 4-H Millionaire Club, sponsored by the National Association of Securities Dealers.
