The first item of business was the election for our new Vice-President. Three candidates ran and Madison Stephens, our current Ag Student Council Rep, was elected as the new VP. Katie Lanning has been named our new current Ag Student Council Representative.
Paige Patterson then introduced our guest speaker, Emily Miller from Arhaus Furniture here in Lexington. Emily is a recent UK graduate with a degree in MAT. She began her career at Arhaus as a Visual Manger/Merchandiser for two years. After that she worked in sales for six months before moving up to become the store manager for the Arhaus here in Lexington. While in school she interned at Target because it was a paid internship. She gave overall important interviewing tips such as, asking questions and interviewing the company yourself, dressing appropriately, being on time, etc.
The next item of business was the Atlanta Trip, March 31st-April 1st. Members have until March 7th to earn points towards Atlanta. Only twenty members will be allowed to go and those with the most points will be going. The trip is excused from class and there will be a store visit, trip to the market, fashion show, and dinner at the Hard Rock Café (paid by the club). The average cost will be between $75 and $100 for a two-night stay. Members will car pool and pay for their own food costs. Sign-ups are on the board.
We will be taking a trip to Carhartt in Irvine, KY on February 25th. The tour will begin promptly at 1:00pm and travel time is approximately 1 ½ hours. We will be touring the Administration building and the sewing plant.
