Since joining the department, Dr. Kurzynske has been involved in research and program development for “at-risk” audiences. She has secured over six million dollars in funding for her work with this audience. Presently, she is the Co-Director (along with Dr. Wendy Stivers) for the program piece of a national website “CYFERnet” Children, Youth and Families Education and Research Network http://www.cyfernet.org/, the Co-Director (along with Dr. Ken Jones) for the Sustainable Communities Project funded through Children, Youth, and Families at Risk, and is Co-Chair (with Dr. Janet Tietyen) for the School of Human Environmental Sciences Health Weight Task Force. She recently received her second USDA Integrated Food Safety grant to support her efforts with vulnerable audiences.
She has received numerous honors including the highest award given by USDA – The Secretary’s Award in 2003.
