Amsonia tabernaemontana ‘Blue Ice’

Amsonia tabernaemontana ‘Blue Ice’ is a spectacular selection of the Kentucky native Common Blue Star Flower. Allan Armitage says of A. tabernaemontana "For me, blue star flower is always on my list of "no-brainers". Plant and getout of the way." Allan also comments in Herbaceous Perennial Plants "'Blue Ice' is the best-known cultivar, and is grown because of its compact habit (12-18" tall)." A. tabernaemontana can get large and floppy. 'Blue Ice' reduces annual maintenance tasks such as reducing the size by pruning after blooming, especially in shade, to utilize the persistent attractive foliage .
