Syringa reticulata 'Ivory Silk' - Japanese Tree
Lilac - 'Ivory Silk' lilac is a small to medium tree
that has proved itself as a street tree in several
city environs in Kentucky. The tree has a reddish
cherry-like bark with large, 6-12", white-ivory
blooms. The bloom is fragrant, Eddie Atherton,
Owensboro City Forester, has received
numerous compliments on those he planted as
street trees. 'Ivory Silk' blooms as a young plant
and roots fairly easily from cuttings taken in
June. Introduced in 1973 'Ivory Silk' has an
established record as an attractive tree sized to
fit the modern residential landscape.
