EEO Statements

Equal opportunity statements are required on any material intended for public distribution. Copy the appropriate statement below, and paste into your document.

CES Public Notification Statement/Extension Statement

All statements generally appear at the end of a document, and should be set in no larger than 8 point type. The best choice would be 6 point type.

Policy

The Cooperative Extension Service is federally mandated to take affirmative steps to ensure that its programs and services are available to all people. One step is public notification of its intention to serve all audiences.

All Extension materials intended for public distribution must include the following statement:

Educational programs of Kentucky Cooperative Extension serve all people regardless of race, color, age, sex, religion, disability, or national origin.

Letterhead, enclosure slips, and newsletters must also include the following "cooperating" statement:

UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY, KENTUCKY STATE UNIVERSITY, U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, AND KENTUCKY COUNTIES, COOPERATING

College Public Notification Statement

Policy

As part of the University of Kentucky, the College of Agriculture is also required to follow steps to ensure that its programs and services are available to all people.

All Non-Extension College materials intended for public distribution must include the following statement:

The College of Agriculture is an Equal Opportunity Organization.

UK Public Notification Statement

Policy

As a state institution, the University is also committed to Affirmative Action policies regarding equal employment and educational opportunity. The UK public notification statement must appear on all printed materials that represent the University. The short version appears here; a long version is available in the UK Official Standards Manual.

It would be extremely rare for you to use the following statement, since everything intended for public distribution should be covered by one of the two statements above.
