Campus Information
The University of Kentucky consists of 16 different academic colleges,
and the College of Agriculture is one of the oldest on campus. But how did it all start
with Agriculture?
The University of Kentucky was chartered in February of 1865 by the Kentucky Legislature, as the "Agricultural and Mechanical College of Kentucky," a department established, pursuant to the terms of the Morrill Land-Grant Act of 1862, for the purpose of college-level training in Agriculture and Engineering, within Kentucky University, a private, sectarian institution organized at the same time. In 1908 the A&M College attained University status, and in 1916 it assumed its present name.

Destination: College of Agriculture
From Bluegrass Parkway: Turn right off the exit onto Route 60 (Versailles Road). Follow this road for several miles looking for New Circle Road (4). When you pass under New Circle Road you should begin counting stoplights. You will make a right at the 4th stoplight onto Mason Headley Road. Continue for several miles counting the stoplights as you go. {Note: Mason Headley's name changes to Waller Avenue at the 2nd stoplight.} At the 5th stoplight make a left onto Nicholasville Road and then an immediate right onto Ag. Science Rd. At this point you will be directly in front of Ag. Science Building North. Follow Ag. Science Drive to the stop sign. Make a right onto Hospital Drive. Go approximately 1 block to the next stop sign and make a right. This road will take you between the Ag. Science Bldg. North and the Seed House. The road will force you to make a left hand turn around the Seed House. You will then have the option of going right or left. Take a right around the first greenhouse. At this point you will see the signs stating "for official vehicles only" on your right. As long as you have a sticker issued by the Student Services office, you can park along these curbs.
From I-75 South/I-64 East or West: Take Exit 113 (marked Paris/Lexington). Turn right off the exit ramp onto North Broadway (US 68). Follow through downtown for 3.5 miles. One block past Hyatt Regency Lexington, turn left onto West Maxwell Street. At the 6th light, turn right onto Rose Street. At the 6th traffic light, Rose Street will intersect Limestone Street. Follow Limestone Street for approximately 1 block and make a left onto Ag. Science Drive. At this point you will be directly in front of Ag. Science Building North. Follow Ag. Science Drive to the stop sign. Make a right onto Hospital Drive. Go approximately 1 block to the next stop sign and make a right. This road will take you between the Ag. Science Bldg. North and the Seed House. The road will force you to make a left hand turn around the Seed House. You will then have the option of going right or left. Take a right around the first greenhouse. From I-75 North: Take Exit 104 (marked Athens/Lexington). Turn left off the ramp onto Athens-Boonesboro Road (name changes to Richmond Road then to E. Main St.) and follow 8.2 miles to downtown. Turn left onto Rose Street. At the 6th traffic light, Rose Street will intersect Limestone Street. Follow Limestone Street for approximately 1 block and make a left onto Ag. Science Drive. At this point you will be directly in front of Ag. Science Building North. Follow Ag. Science Drive to the stop sign. Make a right onto Hospital Drive. Go approximately 1 block to the next stop sign and make a right. This road will take you between the Ag. Science Bldg. North and the Seed House.
