Scholarships
First Year Scholarships
Scholarships for first-year students are awarded on the basis
of the student's high school grade point average, ACT or SAT scores, writing
ability and leadership potential. The scholarship application gives a good
overview of each applicant's development in those areas. The First Year College
of Agriculture scholarship application will be available for the 2010-2011 academic year in December 2009.
Eligibility for First Year Scholarships
To be eligible for a College of Agriculture First-Year Scholarship you must:
- Apply for admission to the University of Kentucky with a major in the
College of Agriculture by the January 15 deadline. (For more information
about applying to UK, see Admissions.)
- Complete the First-Year Scholarship Application. The application is available online at the link below. Applications must be completed and submitted online by January 15, 2010.
- Your ACT/SAT scores & high school GPA will be verified with the scores you send to the admissions office at UK. If you do not complete the application for admission to the university by their deadline, you will not be considered for scholarships within the College of Agriculture.
- Write a carefully composed essay of approximately 500 words that answers
the question on the application.

Students may re-apply for Upperclass scholarships in the spring of each
year.
Most agriculture scholarships are partial scholarships ranging from $300 to $5,000. The average first-year scholarship generally ranges between $1,000 and $1,500.
