Welcome to the Turner Leadership Academy

The Turner Leadership Academy (TLA) was created to provide a structured framework through which undergraduate students in the College of Agriculture can enhance their leadership skills and receive a certificate in leadership while earning their degree. It is a not-for-credit, voluntary program designed to meet the needs of each individual student who participates – introducing leadership concepts to those who have had little or no exposure to leadership development, to building upon existing leadership skills and experiences for those who have been leaders in high school and/or are leaders here on campus. This program is intended to be flexible and provides each student with a mentor who guides each participant towards completion of a Leadership Development Plan and a leadership portfolio.
A few thoughts for you to consider
as you view this site...

The TLA is intended to develop a person’s leadership skills, which will enhance their personal and professional effectiveness.
The success of the program is based on designing a leadership development plan with a mentor within the College of Agriculture but who is outside of the student’s area of study.
Mentors and students are matched to provide the student with a diverse and rich leadership development experience.
Although there are guidelines and requirements for this program, the mentor and student can mold their experience in the program in any way that will further the student’s developmental leadership opportunities.
This site contains all the tools that can be used to guide a person through the process of obtaining a certificate.
