Brief Biographical
Sketch Assistant Dean for Communications of the College of Agriculture and Associate Director of the National eXtension Initiative, Carla Craycraft has served Kentucky agriculture and Cooperative Extension since 1981, first as a beef cattle Extension specialist whose field of expertise was cattle breeding and genetics, then as Coordinator of Distance Learning Programs for the College, as Director of Agricultural Communications Services and most recently as the Assistant Dean for Agricultural Communications and Information Technology. She assumed her new roles in October of 2004. Dr. Craycraft directed the Kentucky bull testing station and Extension cattle genetics programs for ten years, taught both face to face and distance courses in Animal Science, developed and directed numerous distance educational programs for a wide array of audiences such as the national award winning series “Gee Whiz in Agriculture,” and for more than ten years, provided administrative and management leadership for agricultural communications and information technology in the UK College of Agriculture. She was the primary communications coordinator during the Mare Reproductive Loss Syndrome, directing UK’s communications responses to state, national and international audiences. Her wide array of experiences and multiple talents led to her selection in 2004 as one of the Associate Directors of the National eXtension Initiative. A native of Connecticut who grew up on an 800 acre dairy and crop farm, Dr. Craycraft holds a B.S. degree from the University of Connecticut, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Oklahoma State University, and yes, she is an avid College basketball fan! |
