Brief Biographical Sketch
The following provides data for you to use in introducing Dr. Scott Smith, Dean of the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, when he speaks to groups in your county.
Dean of the College of Agriculture Scott Smith has served Kentucky agriculture since 1978, first as an agronomy professor, then as chairman of the agronomy department, and most recently as associate dean for research. He became Dean of Agriculture in January 2001.
Dr. Smith conducted research and taught on soil science, publishing more than 50 research articles about the impact of agricultural practices on soil productivity and environmental quality. He is a Fellow of the Soil Science Society of America and the American Society of Agronomy.
A native of central New York, Dr. Smith holds B.A. and M.S. degrees from Cornell University. He completed his doctorate from Michigan State University in 1978.
As Dean, Dr. Smith also serves as Director of the Cooperative Extension Service and Director of the Kentucky Agricultural Experiment Station.
