Family Fun Camp Planned at West Kentucky 4-H Camp
By
Laura Skillman
DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky., (Sept. 13, 2006) – The West Kentucky 4-H
Camp will host Family Fun Camp Oct. 12-14, with events centered
around outdoor activities.
“Any family looking for a chance to get away and spend quality
time together should attend,” said Edie Flores, camp director.
“Mother, father, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers,
grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins are all welcome to be a
part of this unique camping experience.”
Some activities will center on the interests of individual
family members while other activities will require family
participation. Individual activities available to campers
include basketball, volleyball, fishing, archery, climbing wall,
parachute games, line dancing, crafts and silly games just for
kids.
Family activities include canoe races, with the winning family
being recognized as “Rulers of the Lake,” and nature walks.
Along the walks, families will face challenges to win points.
The family with the most points will be honored at the end of
camp.
Each family will stay in individual one-room cabins with
dormitory-style sleeping arrangements. There are men’s and
women’s bathhouses on the camp ground.
This is the first year West Kentucky 4-H Camp is hosting the
family camp and organizers are excited about the opportunities
it will provide families to spend time together, Flores said. In
addition, there will be the opportunity for parents to meet in
group discussions related to different issues involving
parenting and understanding your children.
Registration deadline for the camp is Oct. 2. Prices for the
camp vary depending on family size. To obtain a registration
form and for more information about the camp, visit the 4-H camp
Web site or
contact Flores at 270-797-8758.
Adults staying overnight will have a background check prior to
being in the campground with children. This policy is in place
for all activities at the camp in an effort to ensure the safety
of children and adults alike. If you already have one on file
with the local University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension
Service office please note this on the registration form. |
