Carol L. Spence
LEXINGTON, Ky., (Oct. 29, 2007) – Neil Williams has been named
associate director and pathology section chief for Livestock
Disease Diagnostic Center.
The LDDC is an animal health diagnostic facility in the
University of Kentucky College of Agriculture. The Center helps
identify diseases, provides means to meet export sales
requirements and has an early warning system for impending
epidemics.
Williams received his doctorate of veterinary medicine degree in
1982 from Mississippi State University and his doctorate from UK
in 1992. He is a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary
Pathologists. Williams joined the LDDC faculty in 1994.
LDDC Director Craig Carter noted how well known and respected
Williams is in the Bluegrass Region and around the state.
“He brings so much knowledge and experience in veterinary
diagnostic medicine to the table. Furthermore, his leadership
skills will go very far in improving diagnostic services for our
clients and Kentucky animal agriculture,” he said. “We all feel
so very fortunate to have him in this new role as associate
director and pathology section chief.”
Williams’ new duties will include directing the veterinary
diagnostic and educational activities of the pathology section
and the specialty training programs for pathology residents and
externs.
