		OVARIAN SCREENINGS….The Ovarian Screening Program at the University of Kentucky is savings women’s lives. That’s thanks in part to the Kentucky Extension Homemakers organization which has supported the program through regular screenings and annually donating $1 per member . An on-going 18-year research study has demonstrated that annual screenings improve early detection and save women's lives.
		JABEZ QUILT SEMINAR…This January marks the third time quilters have gathered at the Kentucky Leadership Center for the Jabez Quilt Seminar. More than 90 participants from a six-state area attended this year’s event which gets bigger every year.
		BED BUGS…Bed Bugs are a growing problem in this country reaching epidemic levels. Entomologists from the UK College of Agriculture are on the front lines trying to combat the problem.
		UK INSTITUTE FOR RURAL JOURNALISM AND COMMUNITY ISSUES (IRJCI)…Al Cross, a 27-year veteran political reporter with the Louisville Courier Journal, directs the IRJCI at UK. This month he is a guest on Extension Today on The Air to talk about the program.
		TAKE TEN/JUMP INTO FITNESS…Elementary students in two northern Kentucky school districts are getting fit and eating healthy. In Gallatin County students are taking ten minutes for some kind of physical activity right in their classrooms. After doing so, the students are ready to focus on their schoolwork. In Grant County, students are learning how to eat healthy snacks and get their exercise by using the Verb Campaign.
