UK-ALLTECH AGREEMENT…The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture has teamed up again with Alltech, a multinational biotechnology company to advance research in animal nutrigenomics. Nutrigenomics is a relatively new science that could improve the diet and health livestock.

 

WATER EDUCATION PROJECTIf it’s on the ground, it’s in your water. That’s the theme for one of the largest water education projects in the southeastern United States. The Commonwealth Water Education Project is a 5-year, $1.4 million, collaborative effort with 24 partners, including the UK Cooperative Extension Service.

 

4H ENVIRONMENTAL CAMPEach summer hundreds of children around Kentucky will head off for a week of fun and learning at 4H Camp. But many children get their first introduction to 4H Camp by attending a two-day Environmental Camp.

 

IT’S SEW FINEGeneral Butler State Park was the location for the first ever statewide sewing expo called It’s Sew Fine. Sewing professionals and hobbyists from all across the state attended the event which they hope to take to a larger venue in either Lexington or Louisville next year.

 
 

COOKING BOOT CAMP9-to-13 year-old boys came wearing camouflage and wielding sharp knives, but it wasn’t the type of thing the image conjures up. Instead it was a chance for the boys to learn some basic culinary skills without girls being present.

 
 

WOMEN’S HEALTH FORUMWomen in Pulaski County gathered for the 11th Women’s Health Forum. This year’s event borrowed the American Cancer Society’s them “Let’s Talk About It,” with much of the focus on colorectal cancer.

 
  BREAKFASTIt’s been called the most important meal of the day. This month from the U-S-D-A’s new My Pyramid, we focus on the importance of eating breakfast every day.
