Camp and the Kentucky Leadership
Center have recently merged to form
the Lake Cumberland 4-H Educational

The idea originated from a trip that Joyce Belcher, the director of the
center, made to the Arkansas 4-H
Center.“They were one entity,” she
said. “The 4-H kids could enjoy the conference center and the center’s the
guests could enjoy the 4-H camp.”
The center has finished its adopt a room campaign and has recently
updated to a keyless entry system. On
December 10th, the Center is hosting a
Traditional Country Christmas event.
Tickets for the event go on sale in
October.

The Lake Cumberland 4-H Leadership Center is located in Jabez, KY. (map) and is the largest 4-H camp in Kentucky. Located on Lake Cumberland, it contains six miles of shoreline in its 1500 acres of rolling hills and forested land serves 22 counties for summer camp. Camp facilities include Heated cabins with toilet and shower facilities, a swimming pool with diving board, shelter house, dining hall, country store for souvenirs and snacks, low ropes challenge course, high element zip line, and a craft and nature building. It can accommodate 363 campers and counselors per camping session. An additional 24 campers and counselors can be accommodated by an outpost for primitive camping. The camp offers a cave and miles of nature trails for exploring. In addition, the camp provides areas for riflery, archery, canoeing and fishing, softball, football and basketball. Evening programs can be held in the shelter house or cozy campfire area. All registration for summer camp is done through the 4-H agent in your county extension office. Contact your County 4-H Agent
