Kentucky 4-H Foundation, formerly known as Friends of Kentucky 4-H, Inc., was established in 1974. The first major fundraising campaign the organization undertook was securing funds to build the Kentucky Leadership Center, located near Jabez, KY. County
4-H Youth Development programs, hundreds of individuals, organizations, and businesses helped raise money to build this center. The multi-million dollar full-service conference center was built and opened in 1986.In past years, fund raising efforts relied mainly on the sale of the Annual 4-H/UK Calendars. County councils sold calendars in their areas and sent the proceeds to Friends of Kentucky
4-H, Inc. The Foundation has evolved over the years and has undergone substantial change since 2005.
In 2005, Friends of Kentucky 4-H, Inc. changed its name to Kentucky 4-H Foundation to better reflect the mission and goals of today’s organization. The board also hired its first full-time Executive Director. Currently, the leadership of the Foundation is broadening fundraising efforts to include: online contributions, developing more Endowments funds to secure a better financial security, grassroots direct mail campaign, personal solicitations to individual donors and companies, special fundraising events to promote 4-H on the state level, encouraging employer matching gifts, and broadening our planned gifts program. The main mission of today’s Foundation is to further advance today’s Kentucky
4-H program. |
