Kentucky Children, Youth and Families...Our Common Wealth
CYFAR Program

DESCRIPTION:
Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service provides state wide leadership in designing and delivering collaborative and interdisciplinary educational programs that enhance the well-being of children, youth and families. This is accomplished at the state level by providing staff support, resources and training and at the county level by supporting partner communities throughout the state.

SUGGESTED AUDIENCE:
Children, youth and families at risk, Extension Staff who work with families and health programs

RESOURCES AVAILABLE:
1. The CYFAR Resource Library, a collection of books, curricula, publications, videos and audio-tapes in the area of children, youth and families is available through the CYFAR State office and exclusively for Kentucky Extension Staff. These resources are listed on the CYFAR web page at: http://www.ca.uky.edu/cyfar

2. The CYF Certification Series, a six part series of workshops/in-services, is offered through the CYFAR office exclusively for Extension staff. Participants will complete training in four core areas of child development, youth development, parenting and diversity, and will complete two additional trainings that are pre-approved for the CYF certification.

Children, Youth and Families Education and Research Network (CYFERnet) Project

DESCRIPTION
Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service serves as the lead for the CYFERnet-Program component. CYFERnet is a web-based depository of research-based information and resources for use by all people wishing to assist at-risk children, youth, families and communities.

Extension staff and volunteers working with children, youth and family community agencies, programs, schools and others who work with at-risk audiences.
