    DESCRIPTION

    Wee Beasties was created as a means of sharing information with teachers and 4-H agents and leaders about how to use insects in the primary and secondary classroom. The newsletter will be published twice during the school year, in September and April, and will be available through email and download from the University of Kentucky, Department of Entomology web site.

    ENTOMOLOGY YOUTHFACTS

    DESCRIPTION

    Youthfacts are designed for teachers, 4-Hers, and anyone else who wants to pursue an interest in Entomology. Several articles give resources and basic information about insects and their relatives, while others outline activities with different insect themes.

    CRITTER CASE FILES

    DESCRIPTION

    The Critter Case Files is an online field guide to Kentucky's most common insects, spiders and related creatures. Included are pictures, identification and collection tips, interesting links, myths and legends and biological information. These can be used by 4-Hers, teachers, agents or anyone who is interested in learning more about Kentucky arthropods. New files are added monthly.

    Resources Available from the Entomology Department
    Folding Insect Box - $4.00
    Sturdy, double wall corrugated cardboard with 5/16" white polyethylene foam pinning bottom.
    Outside dimensions: 9 x 13 x 2½"
    Inside dimensions: 8 x 12 x 1"

    Chipboard Insect Box - $11.00
    heavy cardboard covered with black embossed paper on outside; white paper lining on inside
    hinged; 5/16" white polyethylene foam pinning bottom.
    Outside dimensions: 10 x 12 x 2½" (1" inside depth)

    Insect pins - box of 100 - $2.00
    Pins can be mailed, but boxes must be picked up at the department or sometimes they can be put on supply trucks heading to your county area. Call Caroline Stetter Neel(606) 257-5107 to check availability.
