DISTRICT 4-H HEIFER, STEER and BULL PREVIEW SHOWS

DESCRIPTION

A series of District Heifer, Steer and Bull Preview Shows are held across the state each year.

OBJECTIVES

1. To provide an educational event for Heifer, Steer and Bull exhibitors early in the show year.

2. To encourage and provide incentive for youth to begin project work earlier in the show year.

AUDIENCE

Youth enrolled in the 4-H Beef Project.

DATES & LOCATIONS

Dates and locations will be announced each year but are traditionally held in March, April and May.

GENERAL RULES

A rules booklet is published and distributed each year by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Division of Shows and Fairs.

DISTRICT 4-H STEER SHOWS

DESCRIPTION

A series of District Steer Shows are held across the state each year.

OBJECTIVES

1. To provide an opportunity for 4-H beef members to evaluate their projects in District competition.

2. To become acquainted with other beef producers in the State.

3. To provide recognition for outstanding accomplishments in beef projects.

AUDIENCE

4-H members enrolled in 4-H Steer Projects.

DATES

The 4-H District Steer Shows are traditionally held in the month of September. Dates to be announced.

GENERAL RULES

Set forth in a Rules Book which is published and distributed by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture each year.

AGENT RESPONSIBILITY

1. To certify the proper identification and ownership on steer animals entered from the county and to submit the county entries by March 31.

2. To give assistance at the District and State Steer shows as needed.

3. To give support and publicity to the steer exhibitors from the county.

CONTACT AGENT RESPONSIBILITY

1. To coordinate, publicize and assist in the operation of the District Show.
