4-H’ers can participate in 4-H Entomology Projects at the county and state level. At the county level, 4-H’ers work with their 4-H Agent to make insect collections. Winning collections at the county level go on to be judged at the state level. Please contact the 4-H Extension Agent in your county for more information on insect collections and entomology clubs in your area. If there’s not a club in your area, you can lead your own. Contact the state 4-H Entomology Program Coordinator for more information.
4-Hers can also apply to the Kentucky Entomology Leadership Program, a week-long, overnight program for high-school juniors and seniors. Participants spend the week learning in-depth insect collection and identification techniques in an outdoor setting.
Visit our online 4-H Entomology Resource Page for more information, including downloadable 4-H Insect Collection guides and resources for 4-H Agents.
