Kentucky moved to a core curriculum system for 4-H projects in 2005. Although each county must include the six areas in their programs they are encouraged to continue programs that reflect the regional differences of this diverse state. 

Every county has different needs and resources as they vary economically and geographically. It is the goal of 4-H to highlight these differences. Therefore, youth may participate in other project areas outside the core areas. 

Assistance from your local county extension agent may be limited in projects outside the list below.
