Plant: Millet, German or Foxtail (Setaria italica) (Paniceae) Back to List
Disease/Disorder: Gray leaf spot
Causal agent: Pyricularia grisea (fungus)
Signs: An olive-gray fungal growth can be seen in the middle of the spots. This is the production of conidiophores and conidia.
Symptoms: elliptical spots with tan center and darker margin

  Plant: Reed canarygrass (Phalaris arundinacea) (Poaceae) Back to List
Disease/Disorder: Zonate leaf spot
Causal agent: Drechslera gigantea (fungus)
Signs: Conidiophores and conidia can be seen within spots. Micrographs show stained portions of end cells and/or stained germ tubes.
Symptoms: Tan round to lens-shaped spots with brown border.

Causal agent: Cercospora medicaginis (fungus)
Signs: Dark conidiophores and silvery conidia can be seen within spots.
Symptoms: Leaf spots with brown center and darker border.
