Plant: Creeping Bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera 'Penncross') (Poaceae) Back to List
Disease/Disorder: Basal rot Anthracnose
Causal agent: Colletotrichum sp. (fungus)
Signs: Several dark, spore-producing bodies called “acervuli” can be seen in the images.
The last three images shows a fungal structure called an "appressorium".
Symptoms: Turfgrass on greens appears melted-out in spots of varying sizes.

Causal agent: Sclerotinia homeocarpa (fungus)
Signs: Incubation produces conditions favorable for much mycelial growth.
Symptoms: Small, circular dead areas in turfgrass.

Signs:
Symptoms: Irregular tan blotches on leaf blades.

Causal agent: Gaeumannomyces graminis var. graminis (fungus)
Signs: ectotrophic hyphae and lobed hyphopodia
Symptoms: fungus colonizing rhizomes and possibly the roots

Disease/Disorder: dead areas colonized by a fungus
Causal agent: Leptosphaerulina (fungus)
Signs: In the first image the sexual spore stage is seen as “ascospores” within an “ascus”.
Symptoms: Dead portions of leaf blades are being colonized by the fungus.
