Kentucky News updated as of
May 28, 2008
- Hello Everyone,
As you can see from the below maps, the extent of SBR so far this season is about the same as it was a year ago today. Note, the find in Texas is still active, but not really developing. In addition, the maps below do not show Mexico, but it is my understanding that there is no SBR to be found in Mexico in spite of the fact that some areas are still colored red on the public website (www.sbrusa.net).
The main difference (so far) between the two years, is that there is plenty of moisture in the Southeast, unlike the severe drought that was taking hold this time last year. Reports are that kudzu is growing very nicely throughout its range in the deep South and some soybeans are already flowering. I will keep you posted of new developments as the occur.
Have a rust-free day.
PS I will begin updating the Kentucky Soybean Promotion Board SBR Hotline in early June unless something breaks earlier.
