Kentucky News updated as of
August 11, 2008
- Hello Everyone:
The soybean rust risk for the state of Kentucky continues to be very low. As you can see from the below maps, soybean rust is still restricted to selected states and in scattered locations in the deep south, and the extent of finds is considerably behind where things were for this date last year.
There has been no appreciable change in the disease situation for several weeks now. Even if soybean rust were found in Kentucky today (which is extremely unlikely), the disease will have still come in too late to damage our full-season crop. Doublecrop (or otherwise late-planted) soybean will still be at risk for another month or so, but the prognosis, in my opinion, is very good that soybean rust will (again) be a non-factor to commercial soybeans in KY.
