Kentucky News updated as of September 16, 2009

  • Hello Everyone,

  • Today we found soybean rust (SBR) in Warren County in south central KY a field at stage R6-R7. The disease incidence was 7% (7 leaves out of 100). Severity was low (1-3 pustules per leaf). There were also a couple of finds in West Tennessee today. There is no need to spray or be concerned. It will take more than 30 days for SBR to build up to significant levels and by then, even the latest fields in the state will be at or very near harvest maturity. For later fields, frost is a much more serious threat.

I expect we will find many more instances of SBR in the coming weeks. If it is in Henderson and Warren Counties,
