Kentucky News updated as of
September 28 , 2007
- Hello Everyone,
In addition to several new finds in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kansas, Mississippi this week, there was also a new find of soybean rust in central Iowa (Dallas County). This is the northern most find of soybean rust in North America to date.
Our soybeans here are continuing to turn yellow and drop their leaves. We have continued to look, but we have yet to find any additional soybean rust outside of Ballard County. This week, we looked at samples from Caldwell, Carlisle, Fayette, Fulton, Graves, Hancock, Henderson, Hickman, Logan, McCracken, Ohio, Perry, Union, and Warren; all were negative.
I expect the map below will show a great deal more red in the coming weeks. However, the net impact on the U.S. soybean crop for 2007 will be minor.
