Information Technology Section
The Ag Communictations Information Technology Section is comprised of the Extension IT Support Group, College Systems Support Group, Academic Facilites IT Support and Desktop Support Services for Ag Communications and other College Personnel. The 14 members of the Section are located on Campus(252 C.E. Barnhart Bldg, Scovell Hall) and at two off Campus locations(UKREC-Princeton and Robinson Center-Quicksand). The College Helpdesk is also part of the IT Section, offering assistance with IT related problems/questions via the Phone, email, and by remote assistance.
College Helpdesk
The College of Agriculture Helpdesk is available Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Eastern time) to answer any computer or service related questions. The Helpdesk assists both on and off campus faculty and staff in answering questions regarding network, security, smart classrooms, technology, and videoconferencing issues or inquiries. The Helpdesk also has laptops available for checkout to College Faculty and Staff. Extension IT Support
The Extension IT unit is responsible for managing, and supporting the use of information technology (IT) resources within the Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service. Information Technology resources include workstations, servers, network connectivity (both off-campus Extension offices along with numerous other college facilities), video conferencing technology, handheld devices, and various other equipment and services.

Network Servers and Network Support
Twenty-two Departments/Units, The School of Human Environmental Sciences and Extension staff at over 120 remote sites rely on servers managed by the computing section. This includes file/print/web services as well as remote access and other specialized systems (40+ servers). The file and print servers maintained by the section service over 1,600 users in the College and contain over 20 terabytes of disk storage available to the college.
Web servers maintained by the section average over 10 million hits per month. To assist the faculty and staff of the College the section also acts as a contact with Central IT support units. Assistance with network, server, or networking problems as well as IT security issues can be obtained by contacting the Helpdesk at (859) 257-3335 ext 1.

College Computer Classroom and Smart Classrooms
Insuring that the College's computer classroom/training lab, with a total of 30 computers and a projection system (room 246 C.E.Barnhart Building) and 13 smart classrooms are kept in working order is the responsibility of the IT section. Smart classroom locations include Ag Sciences North (rooms A6, A7, N10, N12, S221, N320, S227), Garrigus Building (rooms 108, 109), Erickson Hall (rooms 203, 304, 308) and C.E. Barnhart (room 227). Each smart classroom houses a computer, projection system and VCR and some have document cameras. Responsibilities also include training instructors in the use of the equipment as well as keeping all the hardware operational. Assistance with problems in the computer classroom/lab or smart classrooms can be obtained by contacting the Helpdesk at (859) 257-3335 ext 1.
Video Conferencing
The section maintains video conferencing systems in Room 249 C.E. Barnhart Building, Scovell Hall, and Robinson Center in Quicksand. Numerous other sites are located around the state and are maintained with assistance from District IT Support Staff. With the use of the campus multi-conferencing unit these sites can conference with each other as well as sites throughout the world.
