• consists of hydrolized, dried, ground clean feathers from slaughtered poultry
• almost totally protein
• otherwise low in nutritional value
• used for mature ruminants but rarely exceed 5% of the ration for non-ruminants
• fed to non-ruminants as a source of bypass protein
• palatability is commonly a problem
