There are two types of ponds:
Commercial Commercial ponds sell fish to the processing plants
Pay lakes Pay lakes are ponds that people can fish in
Fish ponds are usually large. The smallest pond is a half acre in size. A pond this small may hold 1,250 fish! Fish farmers must keep the ponds very clean and keep the right amount of fish in each pond. To help the farmer do this, aerators, or pumps that move water, are put into the ponds. Aerators help keep oxygen in the water and algae from growing on top of it.
