Besides
the other types of feed you will see throughout your tour,
there is another kind of feed farmers give their animals
to eat. This feed is called hay.
There
are three different kinds of hay:
Legume
Made
from plants that add nitrogen to the soil.
Grass
Made
from plants with narrow leaves.
Straw
Made
from the stems of harvested grain plants like wheat and
oats.
Hay
is fed to animals to supply certain nutrients and to give
them a source of food when there is no grass.
