Baby
horses are called foals. The process of having foals is
called foaling. Mares have one foal at a time. A foal is
raised by their mothers until they are four to six months
old. Then, the foal is weaned, or seperated from its mother,
to be fed by the farmer. The farmer feeds the foal until
it is sold or it is broke to lead. Breaking a horse to lead
means teaching a horse to run, walk and stop when it is
told to. Farmers teach horse to walk, trot, pace, gallop,
canter, rack, and run-walk. |
