Beefmaster

  • Originated in Texas; developed by combining Brahman bulls and Shorthorn and Hereford cattle
  • Characteristics:
    • some are horned, some are polled
    • colors are various with a majority being red or dun
    • loose skin on the underline at the navel
    • ears are large and droop slightly so that they are at eye level
  • Advantages:
    • fertility
    • milking ability
    • range efficient
