  • Originated in Italy; came to U.S. in 1972
  • Characteristics
    • world's largest breed (females often weigh more than a ton; males more than 2 tons)
    • white to steely gray with black points
  • Advantages
    • rapid growth
    • very lean

    • fertility
    • too large
    • disposition
    • milking ability
