Limousin

  • Originated in France, approximately 5000 BC; came to U.S. in 1968
  • Characterisics:
    • large framed
    • heavily muscled
    • light red to golden color all over body
  • Advantages
    • fast growth
    • high yield
    • very lean
  • Disadvantages
    • fertility
    • late puberty
    • lack marbling
