  • Originated in Scotland; came to Kansas in 1873
  • Characteristics:
    • solid red, naturally polled
  • Advantages:
    • mothering ability
    • carcass quality
    • fertility
    • milking ability
    • moderate size
  • Disadvantages:
    • disposition
    • limited adaptability
