Drill
A drill is an agricultural implement which deposits a seed of grain into the soil at a specific depth and in a specific amount. A drill is used for planting smaller grains such as wheat and soybeans.
The earliest forms of drills consisted of a wooden plow with a tube for transporting seed to the furrow and an attachment to cover the seed after it is in the furrow.
During the 18th century in England this was done with a push plow or a plow pulled by cattle or horses. Now drilling is accomplished with high tech machinery and tractors.
Drilling is the act of making furrows or holes in the ground and planting the seeds.
