Land Use Capacity

Land use capacity is the relative ability of a tract of land to provide a surplus of returns or satisfactions above its costs of utilization. Tracts may be highly productive relative to their utilization costs because of a favorable location with respect to markets, transportation and communication facilities. Tracts may also be productive primarily because of resource characteristics such as soil fertility, climatic conditions, or the presence of wood and water.
