Net Migration Rate

The Net Migration Rate is the net balance between in-migration to an area and out-migration from the area over a specified period of time (e.g., 10 years) on the area's population. When one refers to a net migration rate this net balance is expressed as an increase or a decrease per 1,000 population of the area at the start of the time period.
